Bubble Maps:

Having two styles of map allows the user to visualize news aggregation data in different ways. The geographic map offers a familiar, standard view of the world with countries colored in shades of blue and red according to relative news intensity.
The bubble map uses the same coloring scheme, but adding animation allows the user to see changes over a time period. Bubble size reflects yet a third dimension, indicating the raw number of stories coming out of a country.
