An army integration program in Burundi may not bring about the stability desired, as one important former rebel group is not being included.  Burundi’s Forces Nationals de Libération (FNL) has protested this lack of integration.  The FNL was recently acknowledged as a political party.

Brundi is integrating members of the Hutu Forces for National Liberation, the last remaining rebel group.  The African Union is helping to facilitate the weapon gathering.  This process represents a broader attempt to ameloriate ethnic tensions in central Africa and bring people into the political process.
