Happening over two days ago, the brother of Togo’s president was arrested over an attempted plot to overthrow the government.  The army has recently pledged loyalty to the original president.  The rivalry between brothers stretches back some time, but was put to the test when their father left power in 2005.

Many have taken to the streets in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, to protest government attempts to investigate a suspected coup.  The suspected plotters planned on overthrowing the Turkish government and installing a nationalist-secular government.  This was to be accomplished by provoking the army through bombings and general insurrection.  The group is called Ergenekon.
